What matters in a GEX tool

Five questions before you subscribe.

Want to see what the levels look like first? Today’s SPY gamma exposure is free, updated after every close, and explained in Arabic too.

  • Symbols

Index-only tools cover SPX, SPY and QQQ; others cover every US ticker or futures. Pay for the symbols you actually trade.

  • Update speed

End-of-day levels are a map for the next session. Intraday traders, and 0DTE traders above all, need levels that refresh during the session.

  • Expiry views

Same-day options can dominate intraday behavior. A 0DTE view next to the all-expiry picture shows whether the two agree.

  • Where you read it

A separate GEX site, levels inside TradingView or NinjaTrader, an API, or a workspace beside the news: the best tool is the one you will actually look at mid-trade.

  • Method transparency

Every GEX number is a model. Prefer vendors that explain the sign convention and how walls and flip levels are derived.

Questions traders ask

Gamma exposure tools FAQ

What is the best gamma exposure (GEX) tool?

It depends on how you trade. SpotGamma is the deepest dedicated GEX research service; Unusual Whales is the cheapest way to get GEX for any US ticker alongside options flow; Menthor Q fits futures traders on TradingView or NinjaTrader; FlashAlpha is for developers who want an API. Senntric ($149/month) puts SPY and QQQ GEX next to real-time news, squawk and charts in one workspace.

Is there a free GEX tool?

Senntric publishes SPY and QQQ gamma levels (call wall, put wall, magnet, net GEX and regime) for free after every close, FlashAlpha’s free API plan allows five requests a day for single-expiry GEX on individual stocks, and QuantWheel allows three free GEX calculations a day. Real-time, all-expiry GEX is a paid feature at every vendor in this comparison. SPY gamma exposure today.

How much do GEX tools cost?

At verification on October 30, 2026: Unusual Whales from $50/month, SpotGamma from $89/month, FlashAlpha from $79/month (free API tier), Menthor Q from $129/month, and Senntric at $149/month with GEX included. Annual billing is cheaper at most of them.

What is a good SpotGamma alternative?

For a lower price, Unusual Whales lists a GEX heatmap for all US tickers from $50/month. For futures traders on TradingView or NinjaTrader, Menthor Q publishes gamma levels for ES, NQ and stocks. For SPY and QQQ traders who want GEX beside the news and their chart, Senntric includes it at $149/month. For code, FlashAlpha offers GEX by API.

Can I get GEX levels on TradingView?

Menthor Q integrates with TradingView and NinjaTrader and updates its TradingView indicator every evening with end-of-day gamma levels. SpotGamma says its index key levels integrate across trading platforms. Senntric draws its GEX levels on its own charts.

Which GEX tools show a zero gamma or gamma flip level?

SpotGamma publishes Zero Gamma (also called the gamma flip), and Menthor Q publishes a High Volatility Level that it uses to separate positive and negative gamma. Senntric deliberately does not: a reliable flip needs every option repriced across hypothetical prices, so it reports a pinning, acceleration or neutral regime instead.

Do GEX tools show real dealer positioning?

No. Dealer inventory is not public, so GEX tools model it, most often by counting calls as positive and puts as negative gamma. Levels differ between vendors because methods differ; treat them as maps of where options exposure is concentrated, not as observed dealer books. How to read GEX.

Which GEX tool is best for 0DTE SPX or SPY trading?

You need intraday updates and a same-day view. Unusual Whales updates SPX market maker exposure every minute on its Max plan, FlashAlpha’s Growth plan includes 0DTE analytics via API, Menthor Q publishes 0DTE levels, and Senntric shows a 0DTE view for SPY and QQQ updated every five minutes.
